Blue. It’s not a color that reminds me of a credit card. It’s the color of:
Smurfs:
Sadness:
Cold:
But cash? I always thought that green was the color of cash. Not with the Blue Cash credit card from American Express.

Pros:
- 1.5% cash back on all purchases over $6,500
- 5.0% cash back on all purchases over $6,500 U.S. supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores that are not departments of superstores or warehouse clubs
- Permanent 4.99% APR on balance transfers
- No annual fee
- That Amex aura of exclusivity which makes people go weak in the knees with jealousy
Cons:
- You have to spend more than $500/month on your credit card to get the increased cash back bonus; otherwise, it’s 0.5% for all purchases and 1.5% for the supermarket/gas station/drugstore purchases. The median credit card debt for a household is $2,200.
- 3% balance transfer fee
- Cash back comes at the end of the year, and not at the end of each month
If you are a heavy credit card user and don’t need the cash right away, then this is the card for you. If you don’t spend as heavily, then you may want to look at the Chase PerfectCard credit card instead. This card rates a 6.5 out of 10.
