The First Premier Bank Gold Mastercard

Previously, we looked at a very bad credit card choice for people with low credit scores. The First Premier Bank Gold Mastercard is a slightly better option. This card offers a great APR, but has a killer up front setup fee. After the initial setup fees are paid, though, the annual fee isn’t too bad.
First Premier Bank Gold Mastercard

Pros:

  • 9.9% APR
  • Gold card
  • $48 annual fee

Cons:

  • Additional $131 in setup fees
  • Minimum payments won’t clear balance over time
  • Most cards will only have $71 in spendable credit upon issuance because of fees

The fees are the killer on this card. Since they are up front, it’s like an application fee, and if you don’t have a lot of spare cash flow, then this is not the card for you. It’s not the worst choice available, but it’s not great either. This card scores a 2.5 out of 10.
